How It Works
Alpha-hydroxy acid naturally found in citrus fruits. At low concentrations acts as a pH buffer and adjuster. At higher concentrations promotes corneocyte desquamation via chelation of calcium ions in desmosomes.
Why BP Derma Uses It
Citric acid is our primary pH adjustment tool. Maintaining the correct pH (4.5-5.5) is critical for active efficacy and skin barrier preservation, and citric acid allows us to do this with a mild, naturally-derived acid.
